Safety and risk, in writing.

Our Occupational Health & Safety and Risk Management policies, as they apply to every site we staff.

Occupational Health & Safety policy

Blue Shield Services is committed to a safe work environment that complies with Victorian OH&S legislation. We achieve this through consultation with employees and our Risk Management Officer, and a risk-management approach to identifying, assessing, controlling and reviewing risks.

Towards zero harm, we commit to:

  • Comply with all applicable health and safety laws, regulations and standards, and OH&S guidelines within the Victorian security industry.
  • Implement risk and hazard management systems suited to our risk exposure, and continuously improve health and safety performance for our officers.
  • Provide appropriate health and safety training to all relevant people.
  • Carry out a risk assessment before accepting any project.
  • Maintain policies, procedures, systems and recognition programs that support workplace health and safety.
  • Provide PPE and specialised safety equipment at hazardous or high-risk sites.
  • Respond actively to safety concerns, reports and recommendations from assessments or inspections.
  • Conduct ICAM investigations into incidents to establish root causes.
  • Recommend additional equipment where it makes an officer’s workplace safer.

Risk Management policy

Reviewed annually

The policy aims to:

  • Continually improve the management of risk.
  • Assess every guard site before placing a uniformed officer.
  • Understand the reward-to-risk balance and reduce risks to acceptable levels.
  • Identify, assess and manage risks effectively; make decisions on a comprehensive view of risk; satisfy corporate governance requirements.
  • Implement a systematic risk assessment and reporting process across the organisation, integrating risk specialists’ outputs into a holistic view.
  • Review the policy annually, or earlier if circumstances change.
